The reason for the analysis of these posters is that we will be creating one of our own to advertise the thriller we produce. As posters are a main selling point for films therefore it’s important that the poster is correct as they are what the audience see before they make their decision on whether to view the film or not.
The colours on this poster are very typical for a thriller poster. The colour red and splatter gives the connotations of blood and danger. Black suggests the darkness of the film in contrast the white lettering suggest purity. The picture of the house in the forest on its own conveys the idea that the film is going to be scary. Furthermore, the tag line ‘IF BAD PEOPLE HURT SOMEONE YOU LOVE, HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO HURT THEM BACK?” is very effective as it leaves the audience with a question which results in them viewing the film to find out ate answer. I think this poster really working as it makes me myself want to view it to find out what happens.
This poster represents the thriller genre with the dark red and black background, these colours portray a deep and threatening theme for the film. The writing and font for 'Orphan' looks as though it is scratched into the poster in white as it is a innocent word and white reflects this well, contrasting the ideolistic version of her. There is captions in 'Ester', the protagonist's nationality language which would make the viewer interested in watching the thriller to find out who the girl is, why the language is there and what it means. The image is a large scale close up of 'Ester' to draw the audience in but as she is not a well known actress, she could not be used as the film's unique selling point. She does, however, interact with the viewers to have a threatening affect.
