In this clip where we talked about our prelim we asked Harvey if he could ask us some questions insted of us just talking. In this we talk about the mistakes we made and in the clip below we discuss our thriller and how far we have come from our prelim.

Evaluation Question 4 - Who would be the audience for our media product
Age: 18
Steven is an a level student. He has a part time job in a local shop and has a great interest in films, espesically thrillers.
Steve would usually shop in shops like Topman and choice. He likes big brands but finds he doesn't really have the money to spend on them.
He listens to all different kinds of music. He likes going out with his friends clubbing or just for a drink in the pub. He likes taking his girlfriend to the cinema, their first choice is always a thriller.
Steven watches programmes such as The Simpsons, Family Guy and Two Pints Of Larger and A Packet of Crisps.
Name: Jessica Ramouth
Age: 20
Jessica is a student and goes to university. She also has a part time job in a bakery and loves films that come from books that she has read.
She likes the thrill you get from watching thrillers and loves reading them too. She likes listening to indie music and likes to go to the cinema and enjoys the summer weather.
She likes watching soaps including Eastenders, coronation street and Hollyoaks. She likes to shop in Topshop, Primark and HQ but doesn't particularly enjoy shopping.
These two people are out target audience because they are still young enough to be scared thrillers and yet are old enough to understand that they are not real therefore can enjoy the thrill without it effecting their lives. They both also have a great interest in films and also have other interests to do with stories.
Evaluation Question 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?
This is our protagonist, Amy Stone who's look who influenced by the Orphan.
This is a picture of Isabelle Fuhrman who plays the protagonist in Orphan. We wanted to compare our protagonist to her as both her hair colour and costume influenced us into choosing the costume and hair style we chose. The white dress shown here resembles the one that we use in our thriller. The conventions of white against the dark character is perfect for our target of confusion and the illusion of innocence.
In other shots the girl wears a ribbon. The ribbon portrays to the audience that the 'young' girl is innocent until we discover she it far from it. In our thriller we chose to use this idea yet using a red ribbon to represent danger underneath the pure and innocent girl. In the picture also, the girl is holding a dress which indicates that maybe she is older then she seams through likeness of fashion at a young age. In our thriller we chose for the girl to be holding a teddy bear which justifies her innocence which then helps the story line unravel itself.
Kayleigh Bolton who's look was influenced by Flight Plan.
This picture is of Jodie Foster who plays the part of a mother who has lost her daughter. We wanted to compare Kayleigh's character to Flight Plan as although in our storyline, it is the mother who has actually gone mad as apposed to Flight Plan where they try and make her think that she has gone mad. Jodie Foster wears regular clothes and so do the people who abduct her daughter which makes the film all the more thrilling as you don't expect the villains to wear ordinary clothes.
As you can see in this picture, she is wearing ordinary clothing consisting of a ordinary top and trousers. The hair colour is also similar to Kayleigh's which goes against the tradition of a thriller on our part as the villan usually has black hair but in our case it is the other way around making the thriller more shocking.
Evaluation 1 - In what ways does your media project use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The Title of the film
Our group were originally thinking of one word for our thriller title as we thought it would be very effective and to the point. For example "Forgotten" etc. However once creating our storyline we came up with the idea of "Pocket full O' poses" for our thriller for our thriller is based around the idea of a young girl who had been murdered. Therefore bringing the title of the film into place being a children’s song which reflects the age of the young girl.
Setting/location
The opening of our thriller is set inside a graveyard in Brentwood. This was used to create an enigma and to establish the genre of our thriller. We started our thriller with shots of Kayleigh staring at a grave and used close up shots to establish her distraught feelings towards the situation. The grave is not shown from the front leaving the audience wondering who has died but is later known after the appearances of Amy.
Costumes and props
Props play an important part of our thriller and really add to the characters costumes to establish who they are. Amy playing the part of a young girl wears a red ribbon in her hair signifying danger; she also carries a small brown teddy bear revealing her age group.
Camera Work and Editing
Whilst filming our thriller we used a range of shots to show characters emotions and so the audience could feel as if they are part of the thriller. Filming Kayleigh from across the river and high angles allowed us to give across the feeling of being watched and left a creepy effect this seemed to be really effective. Editing we used in some takes an effect called “old film” this allowed the parts of Amy to be seen differently to the rest of the film creating the effect of past and present life.
Title and font style
The font of our thriller is quite bold and to the point unlike our title, “Pocket full O’ poses” has a deeper meaning and reflects the young girls character. As the title being a young nursery rhyme “ring a ring of roses” it identifies the young girl’s age group. We did a voice over during filming of the song being sung but in a creepy way as if from the young girl. This adds to the thriller of the film and gives it a scary edge.
Story and how the opening sets it up:
The opening for our thriller starts down into the forest with Kayleigh down by the river picking up the ribbon from the water, the camera is from the opposite side and gets the full effect of the atmosphere and the background of which Kayleigh is in. The enigma of this gives the audience a sense of wanting to know how the story progresses as the beginning is the same shot as one linked to the end and plays a key role into the story of the thriller with one of the main props being the red ribbon symbolising the girl.
Genre and how the opening sets it up:
The genre fits a thriller really well as we based ours on the thriller of the Orphan film. The story is slightly different however the genre is spot on, leaving the audience wanting to know what happens in the film and causing suspense. Some of the shots have been speeded up to create tension before the finale of the end of our opening, these are shots of Kayleigh running to find Amy and Amy wandering in the effect of old film to suggest there is something unusual occurring. One convention of our thriller would be the horror side, we wanted to create an effect where the viewing would be somewhat shocking and creepy to watch, therefore the end scene where Amy is playing down the river covered in blood was created. The location of the film also adds to the genre being deep into the woods by a fast flowing river giving connotations of seclusion and danger. Luckily enough it was raining during filming adding to the pathetic fallacy of the drama of the plot.
